Abstract

Five chalcones (1,3-diaryl-2-propen-1-ones) had been prepared and condensed with hydrazines, ureas and thiourea to afford the corresponding 2-pyrazolines (P1, P5), pyrimidinones (P2, P4) and pyrimidine thione (P3). The structural formulas of (P1---P5) were established on the light of spectral data (UV, IR & ¹H-NMR). The former five products (P1---P5) were tested for their antileishmanial activity against Leishmania tropica promastigotes in vitro, icluding their effects on parasite growth.

Furthermore, it was found that the studied compounds cause a considerable changes in morphology and dimensions of the parasite.
