Prevalence of hepatitis A,B & C in Kirkuk city

This is a retrospective study included (1766) patient with different symptoms of hepatitis in addition to blood donors attended central public health lab. in kirkuk city, the investigations carried out from October 2008 to March 2009. Of (229) patients investigated for Anti-HAV: 69(30.13%) showed positive results and the peak of positive results was during January 18(45%). Among the positive cases 31(13.54%) were male while 38(16.59%) were females. The high frequency of the Anti-HAV positivity is observed among the (1-5) age group.
Of (1525) patients investigated for the presence of HBsAg, it has been found that 44(2.88%) were positive and the peak of positive results was during March 13(4.47%). Among the positive cases 34(2.23%) were males while 10(0.65%) were females. The high frequency of HBsAg positivity observed among the (25-30) age group and the high frequency of HBsAg positivity was 28(1.84%):blood donors.
Anti-HCV observed among 12(0.79%) and the peak was during November 6(2.25%). Of 8(0.53%) of positive cases were male while 4(0.26%) were females. The high frequency of positive cases observed among (5-10) age group and the frequency of positivity observed among Thalaciemiac patients 6(0.39%).
